Take a few minutes during your busy weekend to tour the Wheaton greenhouses. Browse through the unique desert plants and lush tropical specimens, and consult with greenhouse caretaker and plant expert Ben Robbins about your houseplants.

2 – 3:30 p.m. – Alumni College Classes

1. Disaster and Reconstruction: A Field Course in Post-Hurricane Maria Reconstruction and Gender in Puerto Rico
M. Gabriela Torres, professor of anthropology; coordinator, public health program, leads the discussion on a synopsis of this field-based course which enables students to learn how natural disasters are lived in the individual lives of the person affected.

2. In Living Color: The Obama Portraits
Professor Kim Miller, art history and women’s and gender studies, Professor Tripp Evans, art history, and Provost Renée White will kick off a discussion, each of them speaking briefly about the portraits’ historical and art historical context(s), and the questions these images raise about depictions and understandings of power, race, and gender.

3. Accelerating Losses
Associate Professor of Chemistry and Geology, Matthew J. Evans, and his students participated in this new study that indicates melting of the Greenland ice sheet began increasing at the time of the 19th-century Industrial Revolution and has continued to accelerate, rising substantially over the past two decades. Come hear about this important research that has been published in the journal, Nature.

3:30 – 5 p.m. – Holcombe M. Austin Memorial Tree Walk
Join Professor of Biology Scott Shumway for a tour of some of the largest and most unusual trees on the Wheaton campus.

President Dennis M. Hanno invites visiting alumni to a reception in honor of the Class of 2019 and their families. This is a special opportunity for alumni to meet seniors and to share stories of Wheaton past and present. (Location TBD)

5:30 – 7 p.m. – A cappella Reunion Reception
Includes rehearsal for alumni Whims, Wheatones, Gentleman Callers, the Blend and Voices United to Jam.

5:30 – 7 p.m. – Mary Lyon Leadership Reception
Private reception for alumni and parents who are members of the Mary Lyon Leadership Society. By invitation only.

9:15 a.m. – Line up for Commencement Procession
All members of the reunion classes are invited to march behind their class banners in the Commencement Procession (Alumni line up in front of Stanton). In the event of rain, the full procession will be cancelled and a class representative will carry the class banner in the procession through the field house.

10 a.m. – 184th Commencement Exercises

11:30 a.m. – Registration deadline for Reunion class gift and attendance awards.

12:15 p.m. – Reunion Lunch
Enjoy lunch with your classmates – Advance registration is required.

1:30 p.m. – State of the College and Annual Meeting of the Alumni
President Dennis M. Hanno will update alumni with the highlights of the last year and talk about what is coming next for Wheaton. Joshua Bauchner ’95 will present this year’s Alumni Achievement Awards to Betty Reardon ’51 and Adar Cohen ’04.

2:30 p.m. – Post State of the College Social Hour
Join President Hanno and other alumni and guests who have attended the State of the College for follow-up informal discussion.

2:45 – 6 p.m. – Reunion Class Photographs

3 – 5 p.m. – Family Field Day
Gather the kids, and parents, and go to Chapel Field where you’ll find an assortment of games and equipment to keep the kids engaged while you catch up with friends.

4 – 6 p.m. – Bookstore Open House
Enjoy an additional 10% off on bookstore items, including books by alumni authors, gifts and Wheaton apparel.
