Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum Peter Krueger Summer Internships

The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum’s internship program offers promising students of art history, architectural history, museum history, museum education and design opportunities to explore careers in the museum profession. The Peter Krueger Internship program provides a stipend of $2,500 for a 10- week program at the museum. Approximately 8 summer internships are available each summer. The program is open to currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates and students that can demonstrate they have been accepted into a degree-granting postgraduate program within six months.

Metropolitan Museum of Art Fellowships

The Metropolitan Museum of Art offers annual resident fellowships in art history to qualified graduate students at the predoctoral level as well as to postdoctoral researchers. Projects should relate to the Museum’s collection. The fields of research for art history candidates include Asian art, arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas, antiquities, arms and armor, costumes, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, paintings, photographs, prints, sculpture, textiles, and Western art. Some art history fellowships for travel abroad are also available for students whose projects involve firsthand examination of paintings in major European collections.
