Under the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADA AA) revised in 2008, the term “disability” includes (a) a mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of an individual; (b) a record of such an impairment; or (c) being regarded as having such an impairment.
Some examples of documentation include:
- Individual Education Plans
- Section 504 Plans
- Neuropsychological Exams
- Psychoeducational Exams
Documentation should be signed by a professional. If available, it is helpful for the documentation to list the diagnosis(es). In addition to documentation from providers, evaluators, and educators, conversations with each student is extremely valuable to ensure we are best supporting each student.
