Wheaton College organist Juan A. Mesa presents a concert of organ music to honor J. S. Bach’s 338th birthday. The concert will include works by Bach, Buxtehude, Couperin, Clara Schumann, Rheinberger, and others.

Dr. Ronald Crutcher, President Emeritus returns to Wheaton to celebrate the release of his recently published memoir I Had No Idea You Were Black: Navigating Race on the Road to Leadership. A leader in higher education, distinguished classical musician and accomplished administrator, Dr. Crutcher shares his talents on the cello before sitting down for an interview discussing his life as a Black leader successfully bridging America’s cultural divides and sharing his compelling story which offers many important lessons on life and leadership.

Gifted student performers demonstrate mastery in voice, violin, cello, piano and other instruments.

Juanito Pascual and his band New Flamenco Trio (Jose Moreno, percussion and vocals; Elisabet Torras Aguilera, dancer; Brad Barett, bassist) present Flamenco Music and Dance, with deep reverence for the traditional form while adding Jazz and other international influences for a charismatic fusion.

The 60 member GWSO performs a concert of inspiring and heart-warming music by a diverse collection of composers. Featuring Mozart’s overture to “The Magic Flute”, Bizet’s suite from the opera “Carmen”, “Adoration” by Black American composer Florence Price, Afro-British composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s “Idyll”, and Darius Mihlaud’s jazz-inspired ballet score “La création du monde” from 1923.  Suggested donation $5. 

Wheaton’s choral tradition for the holidays celebrates music of varied cultures and time periods, and features the Wheaton Chorale and Chamber Singers under the direction of guest conductor Alexandra Lutkevich. The concert is free to the public, but donations are gratefully accepted.
