Wheaton’s scholarship support ranks among nation’s most generous
Forbes recently named Wheaton College as one of the top 25 private colleges offering the most generous student financial aid.
The list, which is part of the Forbes Top Colleges Guide, identifies colleges that offer what the publication terms “stand-out scholarship packages” to students.
In its introduction, the publication noted that all the schools on the list, including Wheaton, provide merit and/or need-based aid to 95 percent of all students or more.
Wheaton awards new students merit aid grants of up to $46,000; 99 percent of all students receive aid. Overall, the college awarded $102 million in student support in fall 2024.
“After scholarships, the net price at private schools can often match, or even beat, the price tag for public in-state tuition for many students—especially in middle class and even more affluent families,” Forbes noted.
The recognition from Forbes complements the college’s ranking as one of US News & World Report’s Top 50 Best Value Colleges. That designation is based on a calculation that takes into account a school’s academic quality as well as the net cost of attendance.
Wheaton also recently earned a top 25 ranking for Best Classroom Experience from The Princeton Review. The ranking is based on students’ answers to several survey questions, including how they rate their professors, their classroom and lab facilities; the amount of in-class time devoted to discussion; and the percent of classes they attend.
Since 2000, Wheaton students have won nearly 300 top scholarships, such as the Rhodes, Marshall and Truman scholarships. The college also regularly ranks among the nation’s top producers of Fulbright scholars.
