The band, under the direction of Assistant Professor of Music Jeff Cashen, perform jazz compositions ranging from blues based to modern funk and fusion inspired songs. Compositions by Pat Metheny, Jeff Cashen, Cedar Walton, Duke Ellington and others. Kresge Experimental Theatre, Watson Fine Arts, 8:00 p.m.
The 70-piece GWSO directed by Associate Professor of Music Delvyn Case celebrates the global orchestral tradition by presenting folk-music-inspired pieces from six continents. Plus Wheaton junior Xinyi Liu performs Mozart’s Piano Concerto in D Minor. Suggested donation $5. Weber Theatre, Watson Fine Arts, 3:00 p.m.
Performed by the Aurea Ensemble. This event is intended for young listeners. Come enjoy the musical portrait of life on an island, the shifting ocean, majestic lighthouses, raging storms, and even dancing puffins. There will be coloring activities and refreshments in the chapel basement prior to the concert.
