Presentation: Faculty~Student Collaborative Virtual Reality Project
March 20, 2019 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Please join us in the Woolley Electronic Classroom (Wallace Library) for the presentation of an interdisciplinary faculty~student collaborative Virtual Reality project: ‘On Exactitude in Science’. Semiotics of Representation: Early Modern Maps & [Virtual] Reality.
This is a Jorge Luis Borges-inspired VR experience that offers a new dimension for exploring the notion of reality and fiction in Early Modern Cartography. Technical topics include creating VR experiences in javascript and HTML, interfacing with online collection systems, and creating self-referential graphics. Come and see a sample of how to bring cutting-edge technology into a Humanities curriculum.
Domingo, Evie and Noah will offer a short slide presentation, followed by an extended Q&A. There will be a chance to try out the experience in the VR dimension.
The presentation starts at 6:00pm on Wednesday, March 20th.
