Honors Convocation 2022
Honors Convocation is an annual celebration where we celebrate members of the Wheaton community who have excelled in their academic and intellectual pursuits. We proudly acknowledge those students who have earned distinguished academic records or have excelled as leaders in the community. We also honor those faculty members who have been important in the lives of these students, including the Senior Class Faculty Appreciation Award.
This year’s ceremony took place on Thursday, May 5, 2022, in the Cole Memorial Chapel. President Whelan, Interim Provost Touba Ghadessi, and Dean of Students Darnell Parker presented the departmental and college awards to students who have distinguished themselves as scholars and academic citizens of Wheaton College. Jonathan T. Chow, Assistant Professor of Political Science, presented the keynote address, “Finding Our Passion in a Time of Grief.” The Senior Class Faculty Appreciation Award was presented to Leah Niederstadt, Associate Professor of Museum Studies, History of Art, by Senior Class President Eva Danielson ’22. In addition, the recipient of this year’s endowed honorary chair, The Bojan Hamlin Jennings Chair in the Natural Sciences, was presented to Laura Ekstrom, Associate Professor of Biology.
