Library Loan Privileges
Honors thesis students may borrow books from the Wallace Library for an extended period. In addition, all students can use many area research libraries, including Brown University. Policies vary for each of libraries. Certain restrictions apply, including hours of access to the libraries and limited access to licensed databases, electronic resources, and reference services. Consult the library borrowing policies for details.
Reserved Carrel Agreement for Honors Thesis Students
Students may reserve a study carrel for the year – bring carrel agreement form to the Circulation Desk. To ensure availability of a carrel, please submit the signed agreement by October 1
Research and Technology Assistance
We offer and encourage individual consultation with a research librarian to help you locate appropriate research materials and develop a review of the literature, with the College Archivist to help you use primary resources from the College Archives and Special Collections in your research, and with an academic technologist to help you with diverse software applications.
Managing Your Research
We are happy not only to help you search and find material for your research, but also to help you find effective workflows in managing your research.
Using Information in Your Thesis Legally and Ethically
Reuse content correctly. Cite your sources. Show, within the body of your text, that you took the words/ideas/figures from another place. Use the citation styles as directed by your professor. Refer to the following:
- Documenting your Research – Style Guides. Style Guides illustrate how to format your in-text citations or footnotes, as well as how to format citations in your bibliography/works cited section.
- Recognize and avoid plagiarism. Read and follow the helpful tips on avoiding plagiarism from The OWL at Purdue.
