How to Access Disability Support
Academic accommodations are determined on an individual basis, facilitated by Accessibility Services, making use of submitted comprehensive disability documentation as well as confidential consultation with the student. The determined accommodations may differ from those previously provided to a student, as the accommodations must appropriately address the current impact of the disability on the student’s performance in the college setting.
Students must follow these steps to access accommodations:
- Register with Accessibility Services: Complete the Wheaton College Accessibility Services Registration & Accommodation Request via the Accommodate Portal.
- Gather comprehensive disability documentation: Take a look at General Information on Documentationfor more detailed information about the kind of paperwork you need to submit, or contact [email protected] with any questions you may have.
- Submit your documentation: Submit your disability documentation to Accessibility Services (via Accommodate or email) for review.
- Meet with us: Schedule a meeting with a member of the Accessibility Services team for a confidential conversation regarding your request for appropriate accommodations; meet to discuss accommodation needs, complete the approval process, and access other available supportive services as needed.
- Share: Communicate academic accommodation needs with faculty at the beginning of the semester.
