Bus – GATRA

Show your Wheaton ID and ride for free on the Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority (GATRA) bus system.

GATRA GO United

GATRA GO United is an on-demand, same day free service that connects the Wheaton community with the neighboring towns of Attleboro, Mansfield and Foxboro. To request a pick up, riders can download the GATRA GO app on their smartphone or dial 1-800-698-7676 to book a trip over the phone.

• Hours of operation Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 12:00–8:00 p.m.
• There are two pickup and drop off locations on Wheaton’s campus: Howard Street across from the Slype or the Pine Hall entry circle.

Route 18 Attleboro-Norton-Taunton

Get picked up in front of the Norton Post Office and travel outbound to the Attleboro Bus Shelter to explore the area where you will find the following:

• Attleboro Area Industrial Museum
• Attleboro Community Theater
• Sturdy Memorial Hospital

Or ask to be dropped off at the following Norton businesses along the Route 18 route:

• Stop & Shop
• GOAT City Pub
• and many more restaurants

You can also transfer to Route 12: Attleboro/South Attleboro where you can go to Emerald Square Mall and Wal-Mart.

To get picked up, passengers may wave their hands in order to signal the bus driver to pull over; you can then board a bus in any safe location along the bus route.

Train – MBTA

Wheaton is conveniently located between Boston and Providence, providing a myriad of opportunities and experiences. The quickest way to travel is by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) train. Click here to learn how to travel by train.

While Boston is the birthplace of American liberty, it is also the birthplace of American mass transportation. The “T”, as it immediately came to be known in 1964, was one of the first combined regional transportation planning and operating agencies to be established in the United States. In terms of daily ridership, the MBTA remains the nation’s 5th largest mass transit system.

The closest stations to Wheaton College are the Mansfield train station and the nearby Attleboro train station, which is accessible from Wheaton’s Gatra bus route. The Mansfield and Attleboro train stations carry the Providence/Stoughton Line which includes stops to Boston (South Station), Back Bay, Ruggles, and Providence.

Vehicle Rentals

For long road trips or weekend travel, you should consider renting a vehicle.

The minimum age to rent a car is 20 years old and includes an additional Age Differential Charge. Pick up and return services are usually offered. Contact each service provider for policies and prices.

Flying to/from Wheaton

There are two airports near Wheaton and both provide convenient, eco-friendly options to reaching/leaving Wheaton.

When flying is a must, there are two airports to choose from, and each has three convenient options for traveling to and from Wheaton.

T.F. Green Airport in Providence, RI

Traveling To Wheaton

• After arriving at the airport, take the Commuter Rail’s “Providence/Stoughton Line” (inbound) to the Mansfield stop. Take an Uber, Lyft, or taxi to campus.
• Before arriving, reserve a direct taxi to campus at least 24 hours prior.

Departing From Wheaton

• Take an Uber, Lyft, or taxi to the Mansfield train station. Ride the Commuter Rail’s “Providence/Stoughton Line” (outbound) to the T.F. Green airport.
• Reserve a direct taxi ride to the airport at least 24 hours prior.

Traveling To Wheaton

• Upon arriving at the airport, take the Silver Line #1 to South Station. From South Station, take the Commuter Rail’s “Providence/Stoughton Line” (outbound) to the Mansfield stop. Take an Uber, Lyft, or a taxi to campus.
• Upon arriving at the airport, take the Braintree Logan Express. Take a taxi to campus (call in advance).
• Prior to arriving, reserve a direct taxi to campus at least 24 hours prior.

Departing From Wheaton

• Take an Uber, Lyft, or taxi to Mansfield train station. Ride the Commuter Rail’s “Providence/Stoughton Line” (inbound) to South Station. Then board the Silver Line #1 to the airport.
• Reserve a taxi ride to the Braintree Logan Express.
• Reserve a direct taxi ride to the airport at least 24 hours prior.
