Global Fashion Industry
“Global Fashion Industry” provides the theoretical background and practical skills to help students access the professional world of fashion and understand its global dimension.
Students will learn how fashion is the last step of a long transnational supply, manufacturing, and distribution chain that includes manufacturing and sourcing fabrics, designing and pattern-making, and sewing the garments. Most of these steps occur in multiple countries. Fashion markets and sales, of course, are also international, shaped by diverse cultural influences and consumer preferences. Finally, students will explore the historical evolution of fashion as a form of cultural expression and gain insight into careers dedicated to preserving its heritage and traditions.
