Education
Teachers educate, inspire, and change lives. It takes someone special—compassionate, creative, resourceful—to join this meaningful profession. At Wheaton you will learn how students learn, develop teaching and classroom management strategies, and hone your assessment and communication skills. As a student-teacher, you will create activities and lesson plans—you’ll take some risks and learn lessons of your own. A running thread throughout our program: contemporary issues, like social justice, race, class, and ethnicity. Beyond gaining licensure to teach in Massachusetts—at the early childhood, elementary, or secondary level—our graduates also pursue careers as paraeducators, course designers, school psychologists, educational technologists, administrators, and researchers.
