Licensure Disclosure

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at Wheaton College has initial approval status from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing and prepares graduates to sit for the NCLEX-RN, the national licensure examination required for initial licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Massachusetts.

Licensure requirements vary by state. While many states offer licensure by endorsement to graduates who pass the NCLEX-RN and are licensed in another state, some may require additional steps such as coursework, background checks, or documentation of clinical hours.

It is important that students, including prospective students, review the most current licensure requirements in the state where they intend to practice prior to applying to or enrolling in Wheaton’s nursing program. Completion of the program does not guarantee eligibility for licensure or issuance of a license in any state.

To understand how Wheaton’s BSN program aligns with licensure requirements in other states, please review the State-by-State Licensure Determination Chart for the Nursing Program (Google Doc), which indicates whether the program meets, does not meet, or has not yet determined if it meets the educational requirements in each U.S. state and territory.

In addition, the NC-SARA Professional Licensure Directory provides state-by-state licensure contact information and is updated twice annually.

This information is reviewed and updated regularly as new details become available. We encourage you to check back periodically for the most current guidance.
