Commencement Ceremony

Former U.S. Senator George J. Mitchell, who helped lead historic negotiations for peace in Northern Ireland and the Middle East, challenged the graduating seniors at Wheaton College’s 183rd Commencement to stand up for the ideas and values upon which the United States was founded.

Alumni Weekend

Join us for the upcoming Commencement Reunion Festivities May 18-19.

“Commencement Reunion weekend is one of my favorite events here at Wheaton. It brings together all parts of this great community to honor the past, celebrate the present and build for the future,” said President Hanno.

To kick off the weekend festivities join the senior class and reunion attendees Friday, May 18, 2018 at 9:15 p.m. for our Concert Under the Stars event featuring our own Nick Fradiani ’08, 2015 “American Idol” winner. Bring a blanket and enjoy the acoustic sounds of Nick and his band.

Saturday is filled will all of the pomp and circumstance you remember from your graduation.
Former U.S. Senator George Mitchell Jr., who helped lead historic negotiations for peace in Northern Ireland and the Middle East, has been chosen as the keynote speaker for Wheaton College’s 183rd Commencement *on May 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. In addition to delivering the Commencement speech, Mitchell will receive an honorary degree along with two other accomplished special guests—Class of 1973 alumna, award-winning actress, writer and jazz vocalist Rose Weaver, and award-winning broadcast journalist, TV and radio program host and commentator Callie Crossley.

In addition to the commencement festivities you are also invited to attend the Annual Meeting of the Alumni and State of the College*, where you will hear from Alumni Association President Jane Martin ’74, P’11 and hear from President Hanno about the past years highlights and about what is coming next for Wheaton.

“I know that if you attend Commencement Saturday, May 19 you will also be proud of the accomplishments of our newest alumni-The Class of 2018. Your presence will also provide evidence of the enduring value of a liberal arts education to all present while honoring the accomplishments of our news graduates.”  President Hanno.

*Please note we will have a family friendly room available in the Chapel basement.
