Experiential Learning
Partner with our academic departments and Life and Career Design Institute to help students explore careers and transition into full-time roles after graduation. Opportunities may include conducting informational interviews, participating in recruiting events, or mentoring students on real-world projects to provide valuable hands-on experience. By engaging with students throughout their academic journey, you can build meaningful, long-term relationships while developing a network of talented, motivated candidates for your organization.
Opportunities Include:
Short-term experiential learning opportunity that allows students to experience a professional setting, shadowing one or more professionals to learn more about a workplace, organization, or industry. These can be virtual or in person.
Internships are integrated, work-based learning experiences that connect students’ academic programs, major requirements, and career development goals with meaningful professional experiences. We would love to learn more about internship opportunities available within your organization.
The Wheaton College Graduate and Professional School Fair (typically held on our Fall MAP Day, usually around mid-October) provides an opportunity for your organization to connect with talented and motivated undergraduate students from across the College. The fair is designed to help students explore graduate and professional education options, learn more about your programs, and make meaningful connections with admissions representatives.
Through your participation, you’ll have the opportunity to meet students from a wide range of majors, minors, and academic interests. Whether you offer programs in the arts, sciences, business, education, health professions, law, or other fields, the fair provides a valuable opportunity to introduce Wheaton students to the possibilities available to them after graduation.

Time commitment: Opportunities are offered during two weeks in fall semester, and two weeks during the spring semester, with Career Close-Up opportunities reviewed on a rolling basis. Time commitments vary by opportunity and can range from a few hours to a day or two. Opportunities may be virtual or in person and are designed to be flexible and customizable to your schedule.
Networking and Mentorship

Connect with current students through a short, informal conversation, virtually or in person to share your journey post Whetaon including career experiences, industry insights, and advice. Be a friendly sounding board for students exploring career paths, learning about different industries, or considering volunteer opportunities. Your perspective can help students gain confidence, ask questions, and make informed decisions about their next steps.
Inspire prospective students by sharing your personal “Why Wheaton?” story through hand-written postcards, testimonials, or high school college fairs. Your personal experience helps welcome admitted students and build the incoming class.
Since its inception in 2005, the Weiss Women’s Leadership Program has supported nearly 230 students in developing their leadership potential. Established through a generous gift from Mary & Don Weiss, parents of Jamie Weiss Wieland ’07, the cohort-based program fosters leadership development while welcoming and empowering students of all genders.
Designed for first-year students with strong leadership potential, including those who may not yet see themselves as leaders. The program combines an immersive week-long leadership experience, alumni-led workshops, and meaningful opportunities for connection. Students are matched with Wheaton alumni mentors who provide guidance and support throughout the program, helping students recognize their strengths, build confidence, and pursue leadership opportunities both within and beyond the Wheaton community.

Academic Engagement
Bring your expertise to the classroom. By guest lecturing or participating in industry or expert panels, you can contribute to students’ academic growth, enhance their understanding of real-world applications, and foster a stronger connection between academia and professional fields.

Share your real-world experience virtually or in person with students by joining a class as a guest speaker or participating in a Q&A-style interview. You’ll have the opportunity to bring industry insights, stories, and practical perspectives into the classroom. Guest lectures are coordinated with faculty based on course goals and specific topics where your experience can add value.
Join a virtual or in person panel discussion and share your experience, insights, and perspective with a broader group of students. These engaging conversations explore career paths, industry trends, and timely topics. Panels are organized by academic departments based on topics that are relevant to students and their fields of study.
Time commitment: One to three hours, virtual or in-person
Philanthropy Advocate
Play a vital role in advancing Wheaton’s mission and build a sustainable future. Through roles such as Annual Giving Ambassador or Alumni Athletic Ambassador, or by participating in a committee or council, you can inspire giving, engage the Wheaton community, and strengthen a culture of philanthropy for generations to come.

This is an ideal role if you are looking for a small commitment that can make a meaningful impact. As an Annual Giving Ambassador, you’ll help build awareness and inspire participation in Wheaton’s annual fundraising efforts by sharing campaign messages with your networks and encouraging fellow alumni to give. In recent years, volunteers have focused their efforts on our Day of Giving campaign, calendar year-end, and other annual giving campaigns, serving as valued partners for the Office of Advancement.
As a former Lyon athlete, you’ll help build engagement and philanthropic support for Wheaton Athletics by connecting former teammates, alumni, friends and supporters with today’s coaches, student-athletes, and programs. You’ll be encouraged to participate in athletics and sport-specific events and receive resources to engage your network. A key focus is Athletics Day of Giving, when ambassadors help rally support for Wheaton’s student-athletes and athletics programs.
Every five years, reunion committees are formed to encourage attendance, build excitement, and inspire philanthropy in celebration of your milestone class reunion. As a Reunion Committee member, you’ll work alongside your class officers and Wheaton’s Advancement team to engage classmates, encourage participation in the class gift, and help your class reach its fundraising goals.
In this role, you’ll serve as a valued partner and advocate for Wheaton’s annual giving program. You’ll help encourage alumni and parent participation through assigned outreach to members of the Wheaton community and share insights that help inform our annual giving efforts. Members participate in quarterly meetings with Advancement leadership and serve as a key partner in our annual giving program.
As a part of the Annual Giving Leadership Council, the Parents Giving Council brings together current and past parents who are passionate about supporting the Wheaton experience. Members serve as philanthropic advocates, encourage fellow parents to participate in giving, and conduct outreach to assigned members of the parent community. Members also share their perspectives to help inform parent-focused annual giving efforts and strengthen philanthropic engagement among Wheaton families.

Community Building
Strengthen the Wheaton network by joining the Alumni Board of Directors, serving as a Class Officer, or volunteering with Regional Clubs. Help foster a sense of belonging and enhance relationships within the Wheaton community, while shaping the future of the college.
Opportunities Include:
The Alumni Board of Directors is a dedicated group of elected volunteers who support, connect and celebrate fellow alumni and help them create a lifelong relationship with Wheaton. In partnership with the college’s Alumni Relations Office, the Board engages alumni through communications, events, career networking and volunteer opportunities. Board members also help advance the college’s mission through strategic planning, student recruitment and philanthropy.
Help strengthen the bonds that connect classmates to one another and to Wheaton by encouraging engagement, sharing ideas, and keeping classmates connected throughout the five-year reunion cycle
