Purpose of the Network
The guest Wi-Fi network is a complimentary service to college visitors for internet access while on campus. In addition, this network is designed to provide basic internet access for personal, non-commercial use.
Acceptable Use
Guests are expected to use the network legally and ethically. Accessing and transmitting offensive or illegal material or engaging in activities that infringe upon the rights of others, including intellectual property rights, are strictly prohibited. Examples of prohibited activities include but are not limited to:
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to systems or networks;
- Transmitting malicious software or spam;
- Engaging in activities that are harmful or disruptive to the network, including excessive bandwidth consumption;
- Using the network for commercial purposes, including advertising or solicitation;
- Engaging in activities that are illegal or violate college policies or regulations.
No Guarantee of Availability or Security
The College provides the guest Wi-Fi network as a complimentary service and does not guarantee availability or security. The College is not responsible for any data lost or stolen while using the network. The guest is responsible for appropriately protecting their devices and data.
Monitoring and Enforcement
The College reserves the right to monitor the network for compliance with this policy and take action as necessary, including terminating access to the network. Any violation of this policy may result in losing network privileges and any additional measures the law may require.
Disclaimer of Liability
The College disclaims all liability for any damages or losses from using the guest WiFi network. Further, the College is not responsible for any content or opinions expressed through the network.
Right to Take Action
The College reserves the right to take appropriate action in the event of any violation of this policy, including the termination of network privileges and any additional measures that may be required by law. You agree to comply with this acceptable use policy by using the guest Wi-Fi network. Failure to comply with this policy may result in losing network privileges and other disciplinary action.
