The American College of Greece
Liberal Arts and Sciences
Wheaton partners with the American College of Greece (ACG) to provide a diverse curriculum with a global perspective. The ACG traces its liberal arts and sciences roots to Ancient Greece when Plato believed a well-rounded education was essential to thrive in a democratic society. Likewise, Wheaton’s WheaGo Global program empowers students to consider complex issues across disciplines and cultures – which are essential skills for today’s workforce. Through our partnership with ACG, students are encouraged to leverage Athens’ abundant resources, integrating the city’s history and culture into their learning.
ACG attracts students from more than 70 countries, adding incredible diversity to the academic and campus experience. In addition to courses in a wide range of disciplines, Wheaton students will have the chance to learn Greek and immerse themselves in the city’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant student life.
Wheaton students live with other ACG students in furnished apartments owned by ACG in the quiet neighborhood of Agia Paraskevi. The program also includes exciting excursions – from guided tours of historical sites and museums, to Greek cooking classes, concerts and local festivals.

About WheaGo Global
Wheaton’s first-semester abroad program is offered in partnership with the international universities at which students study, and managed by the Center for Global Education. Wheaton has decades of experience overseeing study abroad offerings on its own and through its network of partner institutions.
WheaGo Global students choose from a selected list of courses that count toward Wheaton’s graduation requirements. In each location, Wheaton students enjoy full access to the institutions’ resources and facilities—from library and computing labs to sports and social organizations and activities.
Before You Go
The WheaGo Global program begins on the Wheaton campus with an orientation program that prepares students for success during their time abroad. The orientation covers practical matters as well as aspects of cross-cultural living and learning, giving participants the tools they need to make the most of their time abroad. In addition, the session provides students the opportunity to form connections with classmates heading to the same program as well as those who will study in other locations.
Cost of Attendance
In general, students who participate in the WheaGo Global program will pay tuition and housing to Wheaton. (Students will not be charged for board (meals), as they will most often cook for themselves.) The college’s institutional financial aid and grants apply to these programs as though the student were on campus. Other costs such as airfare, visas, food and other living expenses are also the responsibility of the student.
Application and Eligibility
This is an opportunity for ambitious, adventurous and mature students who possess a strong interest in global study. WheaGo Global is designed for students who have some travel experience, a demonstrated ability to learn independently, and are comfortable navigating unfamiliar situations. In addition, students should have a strong interest in the special academic focus of the program in which they would like to enroll.
To meet the program’s visa requirements, students must be at least 18 years of age by mid-May to participate. Upon admission to the college, interested students will be offered the opportunity to apply to WheaGo Global.
