Driving our commitment to equity and belonging is an ecosystem of professionally staffed initiatives and offices that work in tandem to maximize our ability to create an inclusive living, learning, and working environment for students. One office cannot do this alone. We work in partnership with the entire campus and the many thriving student-led organizations on campus to weave equity and belonging into everything we do.

Identity-Centered Student Support, Advocacy, and Empowerment

Mentoring, Dialogue, and Leadership Development

These offices and initiatives affirm students who have historically been excluded from higher education, including: students with disabilities, international students, neurodiverse students, students with various spiritual practices, students of color, women, LGBTQ+ students, first-gen and low-income students, and survivors of sexual and/or domestic violence. They empathize with students’ experiences, cultivate their leadership skills, and create space for them to learn more about who they are, who they want to be in the world, and how they leverage institutional support to achieve their goals.

Compliance and Restorative Justice

These offices and initiatives support students when they feel their dignity, rights or freedoms have been compromised, and to then help repair the harm, as well as to help identify patterns and trends to inform community education efforts

Capacity Building and Interdepartmental Projects

These offices and initiatives remove barriers to access, success and belonging for students who have historically been excluded from higher education, including: students with disabilities, international students, neurodiverse students, students with various spiritual practices, students of color, women, LGBTQ+ students, first-gen and low-income students, and survivors of sexual and/or domestic violence. They create the tools, resources and skill-development for everyone on campus to make Wheaton a more inclusive learning community.

Institutional Coordination and Strategy

These offices and initiatives set and measure campus-wide strategy and plans for all things equity and belonging with the ultimate goal of fostering a collective sense of engagement, affirmation and belonging, where everyone is recognized and valued as vital members of our community.
