Wheaton College     Norton, Massachusetts

Welcome to Wheaton!

It's 6:00 p.m. and already dark outside as I sit in my office in the Admission Building. Fall is quickly moving to winter, and I've spotted Wheaton students wearing coats and scarves, trading their flip-flops for boots as the cold weather begins to settle in.

And as this seasonal change occurs, seniors in high school everywhere are approaching application deadlines. I suspect that many of you have an application "in process" on the Common Application website! In the next weeks, you'll finish your work and click "submit," leaving all of us to begin the difficult and exacting work of reading and evaluating candidates for the Wheaton Class of 2014.

Some of us met at high schools and college fairs this fall. Others of you have been to Wheaton (register now for our last Open House on Nov. 11) for interviews, tours and information sessions. Between now and the January 15 application deadline, we'll be offering opportunities for interviews in some major metropolitan areas - keep checking our website for the details. If you would like an interview but cannot visit with us here or on the road, request a meeting with an alumni interviewer. Remember: we strongly recommend that all candidates have an interview. It's an opportunity helps us to know you better in the process.

Wheaton students have just finished midterms and are delving into projects due at semester's end. Fall scholar athletes are heading into championship games (go Lyons!), while the ever-popular a capella groups are scheduling their jams. We are celebrating our continued strong ranking among the top 10 baccalaureate granting institutions to produce Fulbright Scholars. And scores of Wheaton clubs and organizations are busily pursuing community service, planning alternative spring break in New Orleans, conducting research with faculty, and exploring January internship sites.

We hope to see you on campus soon! Remember to contact us to schedule an interview. We are always glad to hear from you and answer your questions.

Good luck with your applications!

Best,
Gail Berson
