How to Apply
Applications for SILCS 2013 are now closed. Applicants will be notified by the end of the first week in March.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be a college junior, with one year of undergraduate studies ahead of them at their institution. The extra year before graduation is crucial to the goals of the program, as it provides the necessary support and mentoring needed for the application to graduate school. If you are currently a senior, and can prove that you will have the support of a mentor through the year between graduation and enrollment in a graduate program, then we are willing to consider your application.
If you find you are ineligible for this program, you may want to check out a few similar programs on our resources page.
Application:
There are five parts to the application. These include:
- The application form
- The sponsor form, which should be filled out by a faculty member at the applicant's home institution, who agrees to help mentor the applicant through the year after SILCS ends.
- An official transcript
- A 10-15 page paper that is an example of your best work
- A survey to be completed once the rest of the application has been submitted
Application form
Download (doc) the application form and email it to [silcs at wheatoncollege dot edu]. In addition, the signed sponsor's form and your undergraduate transcript should be mailed to:

Sponsor form
Download the sponsor form (doc) and either mail it to the above address, scan and email it to silcs at wheatoncollege.edu, or fax it to (508) 286-3745. Please DO NOT fax the official transcript, because security features on the transcript will make it illegible.
Survey
