Being a part of the inaugural class at Wheaton is really exciting because we are paving the way for many students who will come after us and we are getting to help build the program from the ground up. I truly feel like I am a part of a team striving toward the same goal of success for the program. Success for the program means success for my classmates and me. I definitely feel like I have been set up for success within the nursing program. There are so many cool lab spaces to take part in hands-on activities for learning. Our professors are all experienced in the field of nursing and are really passionate about helping people as well as teaching the next generation of nursing students.

Professor of Film Production and Visual Studies and Chair of Film & New Media Studies

Filmmaking and visual story-telling is at an inflection point due to advances in videogame technologies and visual effects tools. Film Production continues to grow and thrive at Wheaton. The Film & New Media Studies department has developed a growth plan to outline ways in which we could meet this growing demand, given the proper resources. We also see the growth plan as an opportunity to develop new initiatives in creative industries to better prepare students for the range of career opportunities that have emerged within the digital media landscape.

This scholarship is truly a life-changing opportunity for both my family and me. My family has been struggling financially ever since my mother was diagnosed with a tumor in her back, and we are dealing with huge medical expenses related to her treatment. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to continue my education at Wheaton and pursue my dreams. Wheaton has become a second home to me and has brought me the most beautiful friendships. “I was a strong student for most of high school with a high GPA. Junior year, one of my best friends died and my grades suffered. Most colleges passed me over when they saw the decline, but I vividly remember getting a call from Wheaton. The admissions person could tell that something had happened to change my grades and wanted to discover why. To get a personal call asking those questions was very impressive. Wheaton cared. I consider it an honor and responsibility to stay connected 26 years later. The college gave me so much and continues to do so; it is important for me to give back.”
