Reverend Leonard Swain, Commencement speaker
The Reverend Leonard Swain, D.D., pastor of the Central Congregational Church in Providence, Rhode Island, gave the Commencement address.
Dr. Swain was active at the annual meetings of the Rhode Island Institute of Instruction. In 1861, he spoke on "The Sea", and in 1864 on "Puritan Education", and occasionally gave the welcoming addresses. Swain was the Secretary of the Evangelical Consociation of Rhode Island.
