Reverend James Means, Commencement speaker
The Reverend James Means, A.M., of Dorchester, Massachusetts, provided the Commencement address.
Means graduated from Bowdoin College in 1833. He was pastor of the Second Parish, Orthodox Society, in Concord, Mass from 1839 to 1844, and then became a well-known teacher. He served as the principal of Lawrence Academy, Groton, Mass. for several years, and as Prof. of History and English Literature at the Spingler and Abbot Collegiate Institutes in New York City.
