Inspiration Software

A powerful visual learning tool that inspires students to organize their thinking. Use the Diagram view to dynamically create and modify concept maps, webs, and other graphical organizers. Inspiration's integrated Outline view enables students to quickly prioritize and rearrange ideas, helping them create clear, concise writing.
Inspiration Software can be found on 2 computers on the periodicals level of the library, 2 computers on the stacks level of the library, and 2 computers in Kollett Hall.

ZoomText Xtra (level 2)

This application is designed specifically to meet the needs of the visually impaired. It includes two adaptive technologies, screen magnification and screen reading, providing access to all Microsoft Windows applications. Your Windows applications are magnified and spoken to you, as you do your work.
ZoomText Xtra can be found on 1 computer on the stacks level of the library.

Kurzweil 3000

Kurzweil 3000 is an innovative PC-based reading system that helps people with reading difficulties or learning differences to improve reading speed and comprehension. This software provides both an auditory and visual presentation of scanned text and images on the computer screen. This advanced yet easy-to-use system may be used as a compensatory aid for people with learning disabilities.
Kurzweil 3000 can be found on 2 computers on the periodicals level of the library.

Kurzweil 1000

Kurzweil 1000 is award-winning software that makes printed or electronic text readily available to people who are blind or visually impaired. It combines accessibility, communication and productivity tools to ease and enhance their reading, writing and learning experience. The software speaks text aloud in a variety of natural-sounding voices that can be modified to suit individual preferences. In addition, it provides users with document creation and editing as well as study skills capabilities for note taking, summarizing and outlining text.
Kurzweil 1000 can be found on 1 computer in Kollett Hall.

NaturalReader

NaturalReader is a Text to Speech software with natural sounding voices. This easy to use software can convert any written text such as MS Word, Webpages, PDF files, and Emails into spoken words. NaturalReader can also convert any written text into audio files such as MP3 or WAV for your CD player, Cell Phone, or iPod.
Natural Reader can be found on 2 computers on the stacks level of the library, and 2 computers in Kollett Hall.
