Re-discovering the Abenaki
The hidden history of the Abenaki peoples of the northeastern United States and Canada has captivated Wheaton College senior Ashley Smith, who has been researching the historical and contemporary lives and cultures of this Native American group. Now as a Fulbright Fellow to Canada, she gets to dig deeper. (more)
Six Fulbright winners from Wheaton
The Fulbright Foundation will be sending Wheaton scholars to live, learn and work around the world next year. In addition to Ashley Smith (above), five Wheaton students and grads have won yearlong Fulbright Scholarships. They are: Michael Freese, Meghan Kenny, Esther Jeong, Ashlan Musante and Derron "J.R." Wallace.

Wheaton headed to NCAAs for fourth straight year
The Wheaton baseball team is headed to its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament and eighth in nine seasons, as the Lyons were selected as the second seed in this week's eight-team regional in Harwich. Wheaton reached this year's tournament by virtue of capturing its ninth NEWMAC Tournament championship. With four games on Wednesday's docket, the Lyons play in the third contest against seventh-seeded Worcester State. (more)
Men's lacrosse aids family of child with cerebral palsy
The Wheaton men's lacrosse team raised more than $1,800 for the family of Wesley head coach Christian Zwickert, whose 19-month-old son Collin suffers from cerebral palsy. The sum was reached thanks to fundraising done at a late-April game and from donations by fans and parents matching that of Wheaton head coach Mike McCaffrey. (more)
