American Museum of Natural History Grants and Fellowships
Deadline: Varies (See Website)

The American Museum of Natural History offers competitive grants and fellowships in areas broadly related to its scientific and educational objectives. These areas include the fields of vertebrate zoology, invertebrate zoology, paleozoology, anthropology, and earth and planetary sciences. This site describes the programs that provide the support, and gives instructions to individuals who wish to apply. Four major programs are involved: Grants, Research Fellowships, Graduate Student Fellowships (including International Graduate Student Fellowships), and Research Experiences for Undergraduates. More information about each program is available on the web site.

National Geographic Young Explorers Grants
Deadline: Accepting throughout the year

In an efforts to foster the next generation of researchers, explorers, and conservationists, National Geographic now provides seed grants to individuals between the ages of 18 and 25 in the fields we have a rich history of supporting. Young Explorers grants provide the opportunity for many recipients to pursue their first experiences in the field. Applicants are not required to have advanced degrees. However, a record of prior experience in the fields of research, conservation, or exploration should be submitted as it pertains to the proposed project.

Young Explorers Grants vary in amount depending on significance of the project, though most range between US $2,000 and $5,000. National Geographic Society funds often serve as complementary support; thus the program encourages applicants to seek additional, concurrent funding from other sources.
