Annual giving remains strong in FY09
President Ronald A. Crutcher has announced that the Wheaton Annual Fund has topped its $3.7 million goal for the 2008-2009 academic year. "In these extraordinary economic times, we are profoundly grateful to the alumnae/i, parents and friends who gave to the college this year," he said. (Read more.)
Estevez '09 selected for national teacher corps
Elsy Estevez of Queens, N.Y., has been chosen to join Teach For America, a corps of outstanding recent college graduates and working professionals who teach in urban and rural public schools. Estevez was selected from among 35,000 applicants nationwide. (Read more.)
Wheaton grad wins Fulbright to Bulgaria
Julia Bolt '08 is bound for Bulgaria, where she will study the progress of desegregation efforts in the public schools and how it affects equal opportunities for Roma children. Bolt, who double majored in international relations and German, initially became interested in the Roma people when she traveled and studied abroad in Europe during her junior year. (Read more.)

Michael Drout, Prentice Professor of English and scholar of medieval literature, is posting daily podcasts of Anglo Saxon poetry on his blog. How to succeed in business, 2.0
How can businesses effectively use social media such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter in their marketing and advertising efforts? Kristin Sundin Brandt '94 has some answers. Brandt wrote a two-part series of articles on the topic and won top honors in the national Awards for Publication Excellence (APEX) competition. The articles were written for the American Bankers Association's Bank Marketing magazine. (Read more.)
