Faculty and Staff Support
We understand that oftentimes working with students with disabilities requires advance preparation and knowledge regarding providing accommodations in the classroom. Did you know that over 10% of the population has a disability? Your classroom is a microcosm of the community at large and whether students disclose or not, there will be students with disabilities, hidden or otherwise, attending your class.
Wheaton College is committed to ensuring equal access and reasonable accommodations to all eligible students with documented disabilities. It is not uncommon for students to request accommodations directly from faculty, however, you and the student are better served by referring them to Dean Wilhelm who will work with you, the student, advising and other departments to coordinate services. Please review the publications on this page for helpful information to questions you may have on how best to accommodate students with disabilities.
Staff, faculty and students who are planning an event on campus will find important information and tips on event planning by referring to Campus Services publication on Planning An Accessible Event Guide.
