How does my student make an appointment?
A student can make an appointment by sending email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 508-286-3905. A student will usually be seen within two or three days, and if it is a crisis, a student can be seen that day.
My student is having a difficult time and seems very unhappy. How do I get them to the Counseling Center?
The staff of the Counseling Center will be pleased to talk with you about how you can encourage your student to come to the Counseling Center.
What are the counseling services that are available to students?
Counseling sessions are free of charge. The Counseling Center has a number of clinicians that have many years of college counseling experience. We also contract with a psychiatrist in private-practice, Leonard Lai, M.D., who offers his services to Counseling Center student-clients one afternoon a week. Students must use their health insurance to see him as Dr. Lai. Dr. Lai is willing to follow people currently on medication and will be in touch with a student's PCP or prescriber at home.
I'm very worried about my son/daughter but he/she refuses to come to the Counseling Center. What should I do?
We have a list of referral resources in the community if a student wishes to be seen off-campus.
How does confidentiality work?
Parents can call the Counseling Center and speak with a counselor about how to encourage and support their student to make an appointment. Once a student has been seen in the Counseling Center, the staff must have permission from the student to speak with a parent.
