Individual Advising

Please feel free to recommend specific students to us as we help students:

  • identify their interests, skills and talents;
  • explore careers;
  • develop summer jobs and internships;
  • reflect on connections between academic interests and careers;
  • design yearly action plans for learning beyond the classroom;
  • prepare for employment and graduate school after Wheaton.
  • Class Visits & Workshops

    Don't cancel that class! Invite us to offer a workshop or information session. Contact Kay Gruder at Kgruder@wheatonma.edu to discuss a visit.

    First Year Seminar Visits

    We can provide first-year students with an introduction to the Center and help them to explore internships that connect their seminar with other out-of-class learning opportunities.

    Workshops

    We offer a range of workshops. Topics include, but are not limited to creating resumes, writing cover letters, interviewing and presentation skills, job search for various disciplines, workplace etiquette, etc.

    Senior Seminar Visits

    Invite an advisor to your Senior Seminar preferably before spring break. Advisors typically speak about resumes, networking, transitioning from Wheaton. To arrange a visit contact Elizabeth Hallowell at Ehallowe@wheatonma.edu  preferably a semester in advance of your desired date.

    Departmental Visits
    We are available to discuss the departmental specific career exploration needs of your students.  We can also partner to create discipline specific web content, highlighting internships for current students and the post-Wheaton successes of graduates. Contact Kay Gruder at Kgruder@wheatonma.edu.

    Major Connections

    In this program, alumnae/i return to campus to discuss why they chose their majors and how they have used them in their jobs after Wheaton. Contact Elizabeth Hallowell at Ehallowe@wheatonma.edu to learn more. The scheduled is created a year in advance.

    Alumnae/i Speaker Travel Reimbursement
    If your department organizes a visit by an alumna/alumnus, to speak with students, there is some funding available, up to $100.00 for travel expenses accompanied by original receipts. For more information contact Elizabeth Hallowell at Ehallowe@wheatonma.edu.
