Student Animal Caretaker - Academic Year

General description

A reliable, responsible, and dedicated Animal Caretaker is needed for the academic year to help maintain the Animal Facility. This position will be for 2-3 days a week for approximately 2 hours a day, with specific hours being flexible. A weekend day is required.


The Animal Caretaker will be responsible for handling, feeding, changing water, cleaning caging/tanks, changing bedding, and general facility cleaning. They are responsible for reporting any issues to the Animal Facilities Supervisor immediately.

Experience/skills required

The Animal Caretaker must be able to work independently and follow direction. They must have no known (or controlled) allergies to animals or animal bedding, and be able to show proof of recent (within the last 5 years) tetanus vaccination. This job requires the ability to lift heavy objects on occasion and involves the handling of various animal species. Preferably, the ideal candidate will have experience with animals, but this is not a requirement as students are fully trained.
