Parent Schedule

On Saturday, August 29, 2015, parents of all incoming First-Year and Transfer students are invited to join the fun! Family activities begin at 8:00 a.m. A final schedule of events will be distributed at CORE August. For more information, call the Student Activities, Involvement & Leadership office at 508-286-8222.

Breakfast.7 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Arrived early, need a break from move-in? Grab breakfast in the dining hall. Students are on the meal plan, family members are "pay at the door". Chase Round Dining Hall.

Residence Hall Move-In.8 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Sign in at your residential quad.

New Student Sign-In.8 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Pick up a program and registration material, confirm health records, have an ID picture taken, and much more. (Atrium, Balfour-Hood Campus Center)

Your Wheaton ID. 8 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Have student ID pictures taken. Student ID cards will be required to access the dining halls, check items out of the library, and use your “Lyons Bucks.” If you sent your picture to Public Safety over the summer, you can pick up your college identification card at this time. (Media Center, Balfour-Hood Campus Center)

Library Open House and Tours.9 a.m.–1 p.m.
The Madeleine Clark Wallace Library will be open for tours. Refreshments will be served.

Parent Welcome Tent.10 a.m.–5 p.m.
Stop by to enjoy some refreshments and meet fellow Wheaton parents as well as school administration and staff.

1:30

New Student and Family Meeting.1:30 p.m.- 2:30 p.m.
A formal welcome to students and families from President Dennis Hanno, faculty, administrators and the Student Government Association. This is the first official gathering of new students, with a single bagpiper leading the processional. At your commencement, bagpipers will lead the recessional, framing your years at Wheaton. (The Dimple; In case of rain,Beard Field House, Haas Athletic Center)

Break Time.2:30 p.m.- 2:45 p.m.
Parents and students go separate ways until the President's Reception at 5:15 p.m. Families that need to say their goodbyes early may do so at this time.

The following 45-minute sessions include brief presentations and plenty of Q and A time for all your questions.

  • Academics at Wheaton, Weber Theatre, Watson Fine Arts
  • Living Well: Resources to support health and safe living on campus, Room 127, Watson Fine Arts
  • Connecting Advising and Career Planning, Ellison Lecture, Watson Fine Arts

President's Reception. 5 p.m.
President Hanno, faculty and administrators greet new students and their families. Presidents' Garden. In case of rain, Haas Concourse, Watson Fine Arts

Family Farewell.6 p.m.
Students continue with Orientation until Monday evening. Parents & family depart from campus.
