SUMMARY:Winterfest 2025
DESCRIPTION:It’s part European holiday market\, part arts exhibition and concert\, and all fun. \nCelebrate the winter season at the college’s annual Winterfest\, featuring an indoor community craft fair\, illuminated ice sculptures\, food vendors; sweet treats\, photo ops and more. (Note: The craft fair in Emerson Dining will open at 2 p.m.) \nThe event will culminate with the Holiday Vespers Concert in Cole Memorial Chapel at 7 p.m. Wheaton’s long-standing choral tradition for the holidays celebrates music of varied cultures and time periods\, and features the Wheaton Chorale and Chamber Singers under the direction of Assistant Professor Alexandra Lutkevich. \nAs part of the celebration\, the college will collect non-perishable food items\, for the Wheaton Food Pantry. Each item will donated entitles the donor to 1 ticket for the craft fair giveaway featuring items donated by our vendors. Donated items will be accepted at the Craft Fair in Emerson Dining. \nNon-perishable food items will also be collected at Vespers in support of the Norton Cupboard of Kindness. \nThis event is open to Wheaton students\, faculty and staff and their families\, and Norton residents. Parking for visitors will be available at Lot #2 on East Main Street (see campus map). \nThe celebration is sponsored by Arts at Wheaton and the Office of the President.

DESCRIPTION:Great Woods Symphony Orchestra performs a concert of Classical Pops favorites\, led by Professor Delvyn Case\, Conductor. \nThe concert will be held on Thursday\, July 24th\, 2025 at 7pm in the President’s Garden. This is a relaxing\, free\, community event open to all. \nParking will be available in Lot 1\, and we strongly encourage you to bring your own chairs or picnic blankets for seating in the garden. Her sophomore Fall\, Emma spent a semester in Professor Case’s songwriting class\, followed by an independent study with him that Spring. In addition to songwriting\, she is also a versatile musical theatre performer who was recently seen at Wheaton in a starring role in Rent. Emma loves how versatile music can be\, from an aid in working through difficult situations\, to making others laugh. She is very grateful for the connections and memories that music has created in her life and looks forward to where it will bring her next. \nSoprano George Lane ’26 is a rising senior at Wheaton College. Their hometown is East Montpelier\, Vermont. They major in early childhood education and music\, and study voice with Joanne Mouradjian. They are a recipient of a Chaminade Music Club scholarship (2024) and participate in the Wheaton College Chorale and Chamber Singers\, most recently singing as a soloist in the group’s staged adaptation of Fauré’s Requiem. Last summer\, they sang in the chorus of the Opera Company of Middlebury’s production of La fille du régiment. Following their graduation in the spring of 2026\, George hopes to become an elementary school teacher and pass on their love of music to a new generation of learners. \nDuring his time at Wheaton\, Sean Perez ’25 played in many ensembles including the Orchestra\, Wind Symphony\, World Music Ensemble and took Flute and Piano Lessons. Additionally\, he was the Co-President of the Flute Choir\, President of both the Archery and Ping Pong Clubs\, and a senior delegate on the Model United Nations Travel Team. As a Biochemistry Major and Music Performance Minor he was awarded the Howard A. Meneely prize for the highest GPA in the graduating class as well as the Elita-Pastra Landis prize in Biochemistry. Additionally\, he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa and Tri Beta honors societies. After college\, Sean plans to continue volunteering at the Emergency Department at Sturdy Memorial Hospital while working as an EMT before applying to medical school. \nProfessor of Music Delvyn Case P’22 conducts the Great Woods Symphony Orchestra and teaches courses in composition\, popular music\, and songwriting. He is a composer of concert\, educational\, and pops music\, including the holiday overture Rocket Sleigh\, which has been performed by the Boston Pops and more than 100 other orchestras across the US\, Europe\, UK\, and Canada. His two “musical storybook” compositions\, Lighthouse Keeper and Fire in the Big-Top!\, have been performed for thousands of children in Maine\, Massachusetts\, New York City\, California\, and Australia. Recent performances have included symphonies by Tchaikovsky\, Dvorak\, and Beethoven\, Holst’s “The Planets” (with the Smith College Orchestra)\, and concerto performances featuring Grammy-winner Richard Stoltzmann\, Boston Symphony violinist Victor Romanul\, Canadian Brass trombonist Achilles Liarmakopoulos and many Wheaton students. Along with masterworks of the Western tradition\, the GWSO has a deep commitment to performing a broadly multi-cultural repertoire. Also a pianist\, mandolinist\, and composer\, he has collaborated with dozens of ensembles in New England and beyond. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music\, Prof. Wood earned a Grammy nomination as part of the Boston-based string orchestra A Far Cry. \nBorn in Paris\, France\, Natan Chalem graduated from Wheaton in 2023 with a B.A. in music and mathematics. While at Wheaton\, he studied voice with Joanne Mouradjian. He is currently studying for his master’s degree in vocal performance at UMass Amherst with William Hite. This summer\, Chalem will be performing the title role in Mozart’s final opera\, La Clemenza di Tito as a student in the AAMA 2024 program. He has been featured with the Great Woods Symphony Orchestra in three previous performances\, including the 2022 and 2023 Symphony Under the Stars concerts and as the winner of the 2023 Concerto Aria Competition at Wheaton. \nKammeron Frost is a writer and singer originally from Dayton\, Ohio. A 2024 graduate of the Berklee College of Music\, Kammeron received Berklee’s “Public Service Music Scholarship” in 2023 for her outstanding work bringing music classes to the Kroc Community Center in Dorchester. She ended her senior year as a featured soloist at Berklee’s Commencement Concert of 2024\, where she performed a setlist of hip-hop legend QTip’s discography as part of the ceremony honoring him with an honorary doctorate. Kammeron has recently released her debut album “Goodbye Old Friends\,” which blends hip-hop elements with R&B soul vocals. DESCRIPTION:While tickets are free-of-charge\, you must reserve them in advance. You can make your reservation by visiting the Box Office website. \nOur annual award ceremony will occur on the evening of Tuesday\, February 18\, at 7 PM in Weber Theatre. \nOur keynote speaker this year will be scholar\, author\, and civic influencer Dr. Khalilah L. Brown-Dean. With a keen eye toward the practical implications of democratic conflict\, Dr. Brown-Dean is a preeminent expert on issues of criminal punishment\, mass incarceration\, voting rights\, and U.S. elections. Read a short bio and summary  of some of Dr. Brown-Dean’s many accomplishments. \nAnother highlight of the Celebration is our Creativity Showcase\, where we share and celebrate student creative work that offers tangible reflection on King’s philosophies and principles of equity\, justice and/or peace.
