Wheaton alumna Barbara Janes will serve as one of 200 marchers representing Peace Corps volunteers around the world in the presidential inaugural parade on Jan. 20 in Washington, D.C. She was selected by the National Peace Corps Association and the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Washington, D.C.
Janes joined the Peace Corps soon after graduating from Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., with a degree in chemistry. She put that training to use as a biology and chemistry teacher at Frontier College for Women in Peshawar, Pakistan. In addition, she and other faculty organized summer social service projects in nearby villages.
