1K in a Day
Posted on March 17, 2011
Senior Class Gift co-chairs Betsy Cronin, Sarah Geocaris, and Steven Zerbini know that the Class of 2011 takes pride in its unity and class spirit. So, when an unexpected opportunity arose, the co-chairs knew that their fellow seniors would rise to meet the challenge posed to them by Wheaton Alumnae/i Association President, Zoe Hack Keller ’05.
Zoe’s challenge, nicknamed “$1K in a Day,” required the seniors to collectively give $1,000 in one day to the Senior Class Gift, which supports the Wheaton Fund. If the Class of 2011 achieved this goal, then Zoe would give $1,000 to the College in honor of the Class of 2011. The challenge was held on Friday, March 4th, to coincide with the Senior Wine and Cheese reception hosted that evening by the Senior Class Gift co-chairs and committee.
This annual reception allows an opportunity to socialize with classmates, win raffle prizes from favorite local businesses, and hear from President Crutcher. The reception also was the perfect chance to update the class on its progress toward the “$1K in a Day” challenge.
The Senior Class surpassed expectations. They raised $1,601.07 in one day, more than any other one-day total in Wheaton’s Senior Class Gift history.
What will they do next?!?
