Give by Dec. 31 for 2010 tax break
Posted on December 16, 2010
Supporting Wheaton College through the Wheaton Fund has its own rewards, but it also offers a benefit—a deduction on your 2010 tax return. As the year draws to a close, there is still time to qualify for the tax perk by making your gift by December 31.
Every gift to the Wheaton Fund counts toward the college’s Go Beyond campaign, whose aim is to raise $120 million by June 2014. Because annual giving is essential to college operations and future growth, the college has named the Wheaton Fund as a campaign priority.
Wheaton aspires to raise $34.4 million through the Wheaton Fund over the course of the campaign, which began in 2006 and entered the public phase in October of this year.
The college will be officially closed for the holidays from December 24 until January 4, but a staff member will always be available to assist donors during this time. To make a donation online or learn about other methods of giving, call (508) 286-8223 or refer to the college’s online instructions. The web site also offers step-by-step guidance on making a gift of stock.
Alumnae/i, parents and friends of the college have to date contributed more than $83 million to the campaign, which is focused on increasing resources for the Wheaton Fund, student scholarships and a new campus science center.
