About

Sheila Falls is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music where she studied with violinist, Masuko Ushioda. She is a three-time North American Irish Fiddle Champion and won the All-Ireland Fiddle Championship at the age of 15.

She is a member of the music faculty at Boston College and Director of the Gaelic Roots, Music, Song, Dance, Workshop and Lecture Series.

Publications

Sheila is a graduate of the New England Conservatory. While at NEC, she was awarded a Tanglewood Fellowship. Upon graduating, she joined The New World Symphony in Miami Beach, FL. where she served as Concertmaster.

Sheila is a three-time North American fiddle champion. At the age of 15, she won the All-Ireland Fiddle Championship in Kilkenny, Ireland.

She is a member of the group Childsplay and appeared on numerous recordings. She has recorded live on WGBH for “A Celtic Sojourn.”

She serves as Concertmaster of the National Lyric Opera and has performed with the Boston Symphony and the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestras.

Sheila has been on the faculty at Wheaton since 1995 and maintains a private studio as well.

In addition to teaching violin at Wheaton, she coaches chamber music and directs the World Music Ensemble. She has collaborated with the Theatre Dept. as “Fiddler” in “Fiddler on the Roof” and Martin McDonagh’s “The Cripple of Inishmaan”. She has also appeared in performances with Wheaton’s Dance Company. She performed in Clark University’s production of “The Famine.”

Sheila is currently working on a solo fiddle CD.
