Hailed as “one of America’s most daring and ferocious new-music ensembles” (The Chicago Reader), the Mivos Quartet visits Wheaton to perform a concert of contemporary music, including world premieres by Wheaton student composers.
Wheaton's World Music Ensemble, under the direction of Associate Professor of Music Sheila Falls Keohane, performs music and song from Brazil, Ukraine, Cuba and more.
The Wheaton Chorale and Chamber Singers, under the direction of Professor Tim Harbold, present a varied spring concert, featuring Haydn's "Insanae et Vanae Curae," contemporary favorites from Whitacre, Lauridsen and Runestad, and a range of jazz and popular selections. The band, under the direction of Assistant Professor Jeffrey Cashen perform a wide ranging selection of jazz arranged for the band by Cashen. Special guest PHAT Police will also perform. The 60 member GWSO performs a concert of inspiring and heart-warming music by a diverse collection of composers. Featuring Mozart's overture to "The Magic Flute", Bizet's suite from the opera "Carmen", "Adoration" by Black American composer Florence Price, Afro-British composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's "Idyll", and Darius Mihlaud's jazz-inspired ballet score "La création du monde" from 1923.
