DESCRIPTION:Join us for MAP Day\, October 14\, 2021! Classes are canceled between 9 a.m–2 p.m. to allow time to step back and reflect on your Wheaton journey. \nMAP Day provides time for students to see all that Wheaton has to offer\, from study abroad\, career planning\, honors & scholars programs\, LEAPS\, majors\, financial planning\, and much more. First and second year students will meet with MAP Advisors and peers in morning cohort meetings to reflect and plan. \nAttend an author reading and Q&A with Deesha Philyaw\, author of The Secret Lives of Church Ladies. This collection of short stories won the 2021 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction\, the 2020/2021 Story Prize and the 2020 Los Angeles Times Book Prize: The Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction and was a finalist for the 2020 National Book Award for Fiction. A Q&A session will follow. \nWheaton’s Diversity\, Equity and Access Leadership will host a discussion entitled Progress Towards Equity: A Community Discussion\, to bring the Wheaton community together for this important discussion. \nDon’t miss cider & donuts on the Dimple and in the Pine Courtyard from 10-11 a.m. \nLearn about all of the many opportunities available to you as you plan your Wheaton career and your life after Wheaton! Students in Professor Fieo’s Printmaking for Social Change class will be on hand to help you print their t-shirt designs created in collaboration with student organizations. Learn about a variety of organizations on campus who are trying to make a difference. Participating groups include TWAP\, ECCO\, Emerson House\, Model UN\, First Gen\, SHAG\, and Safe Haus. Bring your own shirt or use one of ours! And don’t forget to swing by the food truck while you’re waiting for your shirt to dry.
