DESCRIPTION:Please join President Whelan\, Provost Jonathan Millen\, and Darnell Parker\, Vice President of Student Affairs\, at Honors Convocation on Thursday\, May 1 at 5:00 p.m. in Cole Memorial Chapel. Honors Convocation is an annual celebration to acknowledge excellence in academic and intellectual pursuits. \nDepartmental and College awards will be presented to students who have distinguished themselves as scholars and academic citizens of Wheaton College. Jema Espinosa\, Class of ’25 Chair\, will present the Faculty Appreciation Award and Provost Jonathan Millen will announce the recipient of this year’s endowed honorary professorships. \nThe lineup for the procession begins promptly at 4:45 p.m. College Marshals Stephanie Daniels and Russell Williams will line up the Faculty (in regalia) in front of Knapton Hall and Seniors (in robes) in front of the Chapel. (Inclement weather: Faculty will line up in the lower level of the Chapel and Seniors will line up in Balfour-Hood). A campus BBQ will be held on the Dimple immediately following the ceremony (rain location is Emerson Dining Hall). \nHonors Convocation is open to the public but seating is limited and on a first-come\, first-served basis. DESCRIPTION:Great Woods Symphony Orchestra performs a concert of Classical Pops favorites\, led by Professor Delvyn Case\, Conductor. \nThe concert will be held on Thursday\, July 24th\, 2025 at 7pm in the President’s Garden. This is a relaxing\, free\, community event open to all. \nParking will be available in Lot 1\, and we strongly encourage you to bring your own chairs or picnic blankets for seating in the garden. Her sophomore Fall\, Emma spent a semester in Professor Case’s songwriting class\, followed by an independent study with him that Spring. In addition to songwriting\, she is also a versatile musical theatre performer who was recently seen at Wheaton in a starring role in Rent. Emma loves how versatile music can be\, from an aid in working through difficult situations\, to making others laugh. She is very grateful for the connections and memories that music has created in her life and looks forward to where it will bring her next. \nSoprano George Lane ’26 is a rising senior at Wheaton College. Their hometown is East Montpelier\, Vermont. They major in early childhood education and music\, and study voice with Joanne Mouradjian. They are a recipient of a Chaminade Music Club scholarship (2024) and participate in the Wheaton College Chorale and Chamber Singers\, most recently singing as a soloist in the group’s staged adaptation of Fauré’s Requiem. Last summer\, they sang in the chorus of the Opera Company of Middlebury’s production of La fille du régiment. Following their graduation in the spring of 2026\, George hopes to become an elementary school teacher and pass on their love of music to a new generation of learners. \nDuring his time at Wheaton\, Sean Perez ’25 played in many ensembles including the Orchestra\, Wind Symphony\, World Music Ensemble and took Flute and Piano Lessons. Additionally\, he was the Co-President of the Flute Choir\, President of both the Archery and Ping Pong Clubs\, and a senior delegate on the Model United Nations Travel Team. As a Biochemistry Major and Music Performance Minor he was awarded the Howard A. Meneely prize for the highest GPA in the graduating class as well as the Elita-Pastra Landis prize in Biochemistry. Additionally\, he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa and Tri Beta honors societies. After college\, Sean plans to continue volunteering at the Emergency Department at Sturdy Memorial Hospital while working as an EMT before applying to medical school. \nProfessor of Music Delvyn Case P’22 conducts the Great Woods Symphony Orchestra and teaches courses in composition\, popular music\, and songwriting. He is a composer of concert\, educational\, and pops music\, including the holiday overture Rocket Sleigh\, which has been performed by the Boston Pops and more than 100 other orchestras across the US\, Europe\, UK\, and Canada. His two “musical storybook” compositions\, Lighthouse Keeper and Fire in the Big-Top!\, have been performed for thousands of children in Maine\, Massachusetts\, New York City\, California\, and Australia. Recent performances have included symphonies by Tchaikovsky\, Dvorak\, and Beethoven\, Holst’s “The Planets” (with the Smith College Orchestra)\, and concerto performances featuring Grammy-winner Richard Stoltzmann\, Boston Symphony violinist Victor Romanul\, Canadian Brass trombonist Achilles Liarmakopoulos and many Wheaton students. Along with masterworks of the Western tradition\, the GWSO has a deep commitment to performing a broadly multi-cultural repertoire. Past concerts have been dedicated to the music of Latin American and African-American composers\, plus collaborations with multi-media artist DJ Spooky and hip-hop composer/violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain. \n\n\nJoin us for the Fall 2025 semester!\nMembers of the general public are welcome to join the Great Woods Symphony Orchestra for the Fall 2025 semester. DESCRIPTION:It’s part European holiday market\, part arts exhibition and concert\, and all fun. \nCelebrate the winter season at the college’s annual Winterfest\, featuring an indoor community craft fair\, illuminated ice sculptures\, food vendors; sweet treats\, photo ops and more. (Note: The craft fair in Emerson Dining will open at 2 p.m.) \nThe event will culminate with the Holiday Vespers Concert in Cole Memorial Chapel at 7 p.m. Wheaton’s long-standing choral tradition for the holidays celebrates music of varied cultures and time periods\, and features the Wheaton Chorale and Chamber Singers under the direction of Assistant Professor Alexandra Lutkevich. \nAs part of the celebration\, the college will collect non-perishable food items\, for the Wheaton Food Pantry. Each item will donated entitles the donor to 1 ticket for the craft fair giveaway featuring items donated by our vendors. Donated items will be accepted at the Craft Fair in Emerson Dining. \nNon-perishable food items will also be collected at Vespers in support of the Norton Cupboard of Kindness. \nThis event is open to Wheaton students\, faculty and staff and their families\, and Norton residents. Parking for visitors will be available at Lot #2 on East Main Street (see campus map). \nThe celebration is sponsored by Arts at Wheaton and the Office of the President.

Wallace ’07\, an award-winning sociologist\, educational policy analyst and writer\, and an Associate Professor of Education Policy and Africana Studies at Brown University. \nDr. Wallace’s research\, teaching\, and public advocacy focus on the dynamics of\, and the solutions to\, racial\, ethnic and educational inequality\, nationally and internationally. He is the author of the widely celebrated book\, The Culture Trap: Ethnic Expectations and Unequal Schooling for Black Youth (Oxford University Press). \nThe event will also feature the MLK Legacy Student Creativity Showcase winners. A reception will follow.

Prabidhi Malla\, Class of ’26 Chair\, will present the Senior Class Faculty Appreciation Award and Provost Jonathan Millen will announce the recipient of this year’s endowed honorary professorships. \nThe lineup for the procession begins promptly at 4:45 p.m. College Marshals Stephanie Daniels and Bob Morris will line up the Faculty (in regalia) in front of Knapton Hall and Seniors (in robes) in front of the Chapel.
