SUMMARY:Norman W. Johnson Lecture
DESCRIPTION:Data Visualization in the News will be the topic of the 2024 Norman W. Johnson Lecture delivered by Amanda Cox. She will discuss how news organizations use data to communicate scale\, context and patterns to large audiences. \nAmanda Cox is the executive editor for data journalism at Bloomberg News. She spent most of her career at the New York Times\, where she made graphics for a decade and edited The Upshot for another six years. She has a masters degree in statistics from the University of Washington and a bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf College. Her Wikipedia page says that she is the Michael Phelps of infographics. She has no idea what this means.
