He is a composer of concert\, educational\, and pops music\, including the holiday overture Rocket Sleigh\, which has been performed by the Boston Pops and more than 100 orchestras across the US\, Europe\, UK and Canada. His two “musical storybook” compositions\, “Lighthouse Keeper” and “Fire in the Big-Top!”\, have been performed for thousands of children in Maine\, Massachusetts\, New York City\, California\, and Australia. In 2022\, he was named Distinguished Composer of the Year by the Music Teachers National Association. He spent the first half of 2024 as a Visiting Fellow at Oxford\, where he worked on projects exploring the intersections of music and theology. \nEthan Wood\, Assistant Professor of Music in Performance\, serves as Concertmaster of the Great Woods Symphony. As a violinist and violist\, he has appeared around the United States and abroad as a guest artist\, recitalist\, and chamber and orchestral musician. Also a pianist\, mandolinist\, and composer\, he has collaborated with dozens of ensembles in New England and beyond. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music\, Prof. Wood earned a Grammy nomination as part of the Boston-based string orchestra A Far Cry. \nBorn in Paris\, France\, Natan Chalem graduated from Wheaton in 2023 with a B.A. in music and mathematics. While at Wheaton\, he studied voice with Joanne Mouradjian. He is currently studying for his master’s degree in vocal performance at UMass Amherst with William Hite. This summer\, Chalem will be performing the title role in Mozart’s final opera\, La Clemenza di Tito as a student in the AAMA 2024 program. He has been featured with the Great Woods Symphony Orchestra in three previous performances\, including the 2022 and 2023 Symphony Under the Stars concerts and as the winner of the 2023 Concerto Aria Competition at Wheaton. \nKammeron Frost is a writer and singer originally from Dayton\, Ohio. A 2024 graduate of the Berklee College of Music\, Kammeron received Berklee’s “Public Service Music Scholarship” in 2023 for her outstanding work bringing music classes to the Kroc Community Center in Dorchester. She ended her senior year as a featured soloist at Berklee’s Commencement Concert of 2024\, where she performed a setlist of hip-hop legend QTip’s discography as part of the ceremony honoring him with an honorary doctorate. Kammeron has recently released her debut album “Goodbye Old Friends\,” which blends hip-hop elements with R&B soul vocals. Kammeron Frost’s website. \nEmma Bradshaw is a rising senior at Wheaton College who discovered the scope of her passion for songwriting in her freshman year. As a sophomore\, Emma spent the fall semester in Professor Case’s songwriting class\, followed by an independent study with him that spring. In addition to songwriting\, she is also a versatile musical theatre performer who was recently seen at Wheaton in a starring role in Rent. Emma loves how versatile music can be\, from an aid in working through difficult situations\, to making others laugh. SUMMARY:Visiting Artist/Filmmaker Rowan Haber
DESCRIPTION:Rowan will screen and discuss their work in documentary\, narrative\, and commercial. They will cover the ins and outs of making your first film\, fundraising for your project\, and how to get your start. Rowan will ask the students questions\, and Leah will facilitate a discussion afterward. This is not to be missed if you are an aspiring filmmaker or visual artist. Ro has found ways to do both successfully. Bring your dinner and your friends!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRowan West Haber is an aesthetically minded Writer/Director.  An MFA graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts\, they were a Sundance Momentum Fellow\,  a Sundance New Frontier Lab\, and an Art of Practice Fellow. They were selected for the Universal Pictures Directing Lab\, AFI’s Directing Workshop for Women\, Film Independent’s Episodic Lab and Project Involve\, Outfest’s Screenwriting Lab\, and were a shadowing director on FX’s Pose. They were featured on The Alice Initiative’s 2018 list of directors ready to helm studio films\, Indiewire’s 8 Best Trans Directors Working Today\, and have been a fellow at Yaddo\, MacDowell\, and UCross Artist Residencies. \nThey won a Webby\, New Orleans Film Festival\, and LA Film Festival awards and were nominated for a GLAAD award for their series\, New Deep South. Their series Braddock\, PA (Topic) gained critical attention from The New York Times and The New Yorker. They directed Stonewall Forever for Stink Studios as well as Celestial for Tribeca Studios x Bulgari\, and have done commercial work for Mercedes\, Pepsi\, Spotify\, Facebook and Apretude to name a few. \nRecently\, they directed the finale for the FX x Killer Films Gotham and GLAAD  Award-nominated  series Pride. They are currently directing a feature documentary EPed by Lauren Greenfield and produced by Caryn Capotosto entitled We Are Pat about the 90s SNL cult figure It’s Pat. They are also attached to direct Amasia Entertainment’s (Green Hornet\, Them That Follow) trans coming of age film\, Handsome and their film Shell.ai\, which is a modern feminist horror retelling of the Frankenstein story from the perspective of a female technologist\, is being produced by Seaview (Slave Play\, Reality). They are also attached to direct the feature adaptation of Brontez Purnell’s award-winning novel  Since I Laid My Burden Down\, which is being adapted to screen by Savannah Knoop and just won the 2021 SFFILM Rainin Grant. They were  an advisor for Sundance’s first Trans Possibilities Lab  and are currently a Sundance Humanities Sustainability Fellow. The INTO LIGHT Project is working to organize an exhibition like this in every state. \nOur goal is to help destigmatize overdose and substance use disorder and to open up the conversation about the opioid epidemic. The exhibition brings together medicine\, mental health\, public health\, and visual and creative arts. We are using art to connect\, humanize\, and heal. \nINTO LIGHT Project is national non-profit that creates exhibitions with portraits and stories of people who have died from the disease of drug addiction in each state. Their mission is to change the conversation about drug addiction through the power of art and storytelling. Wheaton College is the host of the Massachusetts exhibition. The people honored in this exhibition are from eleven Massachusetts counties and range in age from 18-39. We seek to eliminate the stigma surrounding substance use disorder and to address the misconception that people with addiction are to blame for their illness. The INTO LIGHT Project is working to organize an exhibition like this in every state. \nOur goal is to help destigmatize overdose and substance use disorder and to open up the conversation about the opioid epidemic. The exhibition brings together medicine\, mental health\, public health\, and visual and creative arts. We are using art to connect\, humanize\, and heal. \nINTO LIGHT Project is national non-profit that creates exhibitions with portraits and stories of people who have died from the disease of drug addiction in each state. Their mission is to change the conversation about drug addiction through the power of art and storytelling. Wheaton College is the host of the Massachusetts exhibition. The people honored in this exhibition are from eleven Massachusetts counties and range in age from 18-39.
