Songs of Transformation
Performer, educational leader and wordsmith Abena Koomson-Davis and a group of Wheaton students combine their voices for this performance, inspired by Koomson-Davis’ work as the musical director of the Resistance Revival Chorus. Koomson-Davis’ residency was sponsored by Wheaton Institute for the Interdisciplinary Humanities. In it, she taught students to transform a selection of the most beloved works of African American poetry into song. This performance is inspired by a national effort to hold song nights in the great tradition of the civil rights movements.
