There is never a good time to lose your belongings, just consider what it would mean to lose your laptop or tablet and all of your work. I’d like to ask you to do the following:

  1. Never leave your belongings unattended anywhere on campus… dorm, library, cafe, etc. This is a pretty safe campus, but thefts still occur. While in the library your equipment may be checked in at the Info Desk for safekeeping if you need to leave for a short period of time.
  2. Register all of your devices with Wheaton’s IT services. This helps track lost or stolen devices. Go to: Network Registration and Instructions
  3. Put tracking/security software on your devices, several apps are available for iPhones, Droids, iPads, etc. Again–this will help you recover your lost or stolen device. It’s worked for several people.
  4. When you’re not in your residence hall room, make sure you lock the door. It’s a good idea to lock the door when you leave or decide to go to bed for the night. If you see something, say something, most thefts can be prevented when people nearby pay attention. And remember to report a theft as soon as possible to Public Safety.
