Pre-Orientation Programs

To compliment the New Student Orientation, Wheaton offers specialized programs.  All programs run simultaneously from August 21-23, 2019* with intersecting sessions and also sessions developed for each unique program.

*International student arrival is scheduled for August 20th

Registration:

A personal invitation to register for the 2019 programs will be emailed to all new students in the middle of June.  In the meantime, you can learn more about each program by exploring the program sponsors’ website (see below) and you can also email us at preorientation@wheatoncollege.edu.


Abilities 1st! Pre-Orientation is designed especially for students with learning disabilities. Various workshops are offered for students and their families to ease the transition to college.

Program Sponsor – Accessibility Services 

Brave, Bold & First Pre-Orientation is intended for students who will be the first in their family or within their community of support to attend college, and want to get connected to what this community looks like at Wheaton. This program will build an understanding of first-generation as an identity, introduce students to Wheaton’s vibrant first-generation community, and connect them to resources and tools to help them begin to accomplish their life goals.

Program Sponsor – The Center for Social Justice and Community Impact

Intercultural Pre-Orientation is geared towards students of color and provides an opportunity for students to acclimate to campus, develop connections with peers, and meet campus resources.  Students can engage in dialogue and explore issues of cultural identity, acceptance, and intercultural learning.

Program Sponsor – The Marshall Center for Intercultural Learning

International Pre-Orientation is created for students who are attending Wheaton from abroad. We provide useful information about your visa status, options for employment and overall transition to Wheaton and the United States.

Program Sponsor –  The Center for Global Education

Open Pride Pre-Orientation is intended for students who identify as LGBTQ+ and want to explore their gender identity, expression, and sexuality and for students who want to ally themselves with LGBTQ+ people. The program will introduce students to Wheaton’s vibrant LGBTQ+ community and offer students resources and tools to help them begin to accomplish their life goals.
