Mapping Landscapes

Posted on April 20, 2010

On April 16th, ANTH 298 Mapping and Reading Landscapes visited the Slater Mill Historic Site and Riverfront Lofts in Pawtucket RI.  At Slater Mill, students discovered a map of the Blackstone Valley, learned about millwork and millworkers' lives, and explored the stages of textile production.  They also had a behind-the-scenes tour of Professor Stein's research site, Lebanon Mills, that has today been converted into an artists' live and work community called Riverfront Lofts.
