Ryan Sermon ’11
Alumni Association Board of Directors

Giving back: “I view joining the board as the highest level of being a volunteer and ambassador for the college. Thanks to Wheaton, I have received tutelage, guidance and mentorship from faculty, staff and administrators that has helped to shape me as a professional I am today. As someone who works in higher education, it’s an honor to be able to give service back to my alma mater in this capacity and it’s truly humbling. When I hear the words Wheaton community I think ‘We/Unity’ and an inclusive voice.”

Passport to personal growth: “My favorite opportunity at Wheaton was studying abroad in Egypt at the America University in Cairo, where I took courses on anthropology, Egyptology and sociology. It was a phenomenal opportunity to educate myself through personal development, make lifelong friends, brush up on my language skills, meet a diverse range of people and discover new foods.”

Fun facts: “I am a cat daddy; I have six felines at home. I earned the rank of Eagle Scout at 16 years old. I was a member of Wheaton Posse 8. I studied two years of Chinese language while at Wheaton. The furthest distance I’ve driven has been from New York to Arizona (completed in five days.)”
