The mission of Kollett Hall is to broaden learning opportunities available to students within and beyond the classroom and to stimulate productive teaching and learning for both faculty and students. Kollett Hall supports faculty as they transform and evaluate Wheaton curriculum and develop pedagogies essential to its success. Kollett Hall also offers resources in support of faculty research and scholarship.
In its expanded location adjacent to the former science center, Kollett Hall is able to provide collaborative learning space, academic support, programs and resources to students and faculty. Peer tutoring is a major center function. The center offers numerous collaborative workstations, computers, projectors, and whiteboards. The faculty resource center offers print and electronic materials on curriculum transformation and creative pedagogies and information on foundations, grants and fellowships to fund research.
Kollett Hall is named in memory of Fred Kollett, an Information Technology visionary for whom collaborative teaching and learning were second nature. From 1979 to 1997, Fred was a valued Wheaton faculty member, leader, mentor and friend.
