The Kappa Chapter at Wheaton College meets three times a year–once in the Fall, and twice in the Spring–to elect academically outstanding seniors. We also elect a smaller number of academically outstanding juniors in our Spring election meeting. Our criteria for selection conforms to the stipulations set forth by the national office. Since no more than 10% of the graduating class may be inducted into our chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, it is a significant honor to be elected. We look for excellence in the study of the liberal arts, seeking students with outstanding performance in courses within the major field(s) of study as well as in courses outside the major or majors.
